Mercy Abiding is primarily a blog about connecting. It is written for the mom who looks at the laundry, the to-do list, the mess. The one going through drive-through on her way home from work(again!) and wonders is this all there is?
This blog is about connecting to God, to other people, and to yourself.
Connecting to God
I write about my relationship with God and include some Bible study because it is from that relationship that others can grow. I write to share what I have learned from traveling with God for the last 37 years. When I have messed up and am at my most lost, He is still just one step away.
Connecting to Others
I write about camping, traveling, and homeschooling because these are activities that tie our family together. When my kids were younger, I connected with friends over crafts, tea, or “invasions” (when both of you have large families, it is no longer just a visit!). These connections are vital to a healthy spirit. I also write about my depression and how it caused me to withdraw from people. During the worst of this time I lost connection with others and am only slowly finding my way back. I am an introvert and it is sometimes hard to push for connections. I know I need them, but I hate to bother people. I spend so much time at work and commuting that it is easy to make excuses to just stay home and recuperate.
Connecting to Yourself
I write monthly health journey updates. Not because I have had such amazing results, but because like many of you, I struggle. But I want better health so I can do more with my family. I have learned that taking care of myself is an important part of honoring God.
